Before you select a fertilizer, determine your needs. Then select a fertilizer containing the necessary elements to accomplish your goals.
- Nitrogen (N) is used to promote top growth.
- Phosphate establishes a healthy root system. You should use a fertilizer with higher levels of Phosphate when you’ve planted or transplanted new vegetable plants. You can also use a fertilizer with extra Phosphate to increase the overall health of the plant through a healthy root system.
- Potassium creates a hardy root system and plant. Use a fertilizer high in Potassium to help your vegetable plants withstand harsh environments, diseases, and insect/parasite attacks.
Fruit and Vegetable fertilizer is formulated to increase fruit and vegetable production. The higher levels of Phosphate and Potassium establish a healthy and hardy root system, and therefore increase the plant’s overall health and production. This fertilizer is an excellent choice for tomato, vegetable, or flowering plants. Fruit and Vegetable is available in five-pound, ten-pound, twenty-pound, and forty-pound bags.
